04/30/2012 - Philadelphia, PA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - PGA TOUR - WELLS FARGO CHAMPIONSHIP, Quail Hollow Club, Charlotte, North Carolina - Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Rory McIlroy highlight the field as the PGA Tour heads to North Carolina for the Wells Fargo Championship.
Additionally, Lucas Glover returns to defend his title. Last year, Glover two- putted for par on the first playoff hole to defeat Jonathan Byrd and earn his firs PGA victory since the 2009 U.S. Open.
The field includes 19 major champions and eight former winners of the event -- Glover, McIlroy (2010), Sean O'Hair (2009), Anthony Kim (2008), Woods (2007), Jim Furyk (2006), Vijay Singh (2005) and David Toms (2003).
Not in the field is world No. 1 Luke Donald, who regained that title thanks to a third-place finish Sunday at the Zurich Classic in New Orleans.
Golf Channel has the broadcast Thursday and Friday, while CBS takes over coverage during the weekend.
Formerly known as the Quail Hollow Championship and Wachovia Championship, the tournament is a tune-up for the Players Championship next weekend. Last year, K.J. Choi defeated Toms in a playoff.
EUROPEAN TOUR
OPEN DE ESPANA, Real Club de Golf de Sevilla, Seville, Spain - Fresh off its three-week swing through Asia, the European Tour heads back to Europe this week with the Open de Espana.
Last year, South African Thomas Aiken carded a two-under 70 during the final round to earn a two-stroke victory over Anders Hansen. But the event was overshadowed by the passing of European Tour legend Seve Ballesteros, who died on the Saturday of the tournament after battling a brain tumor.
Ballesteros is the tour's leading winner and made his European Tour debut at the Open de Espana, his national championship, in 1974. It was also the site of his last victory, in 1995.
Aiken is again in the field this year for the 40th anniversary of the Tour's first event, along with a strong Spanish contingent that includes two-time Masters champion Jose Maria Olazabal, Miguel Angel Jimenez, 2010 winner Alvaro Quiros and Rafael Cabrera-Bello.
Golf Channel has coverage all week.
The European Tour visits Portugal next week for the Madeira Islands Open, which Michael Hoey won last year for his second tour victory.
CHAMPIONS TOUR
INSPERITY CHAMPIONSHIP, The Woodlands Country Club, The Woodlands, Texas - The Champions Tour returns from a week off for the Insperity Championship.
Last year, the event was played in October and won by Brad Faxon after heavy rain forced the cancellation of the final round. It was Faxon's first Champions Tour victory.
Faxon is in the field this week, along with every other former champion of the event -- Fred Couples (2010), John Cook (2009), Bernhard Langer (2007, '08), Jay Haas (2006), Mark McNulty (2005) and Larry Nelson (2004).
The tournament began play in 2004 and was previously known as the Administaff Small Business Classic.
Golf Channel has tape-delayed coverage of all three rounds.
This year's event will feature a special Greats of Golf competition. Those playing in the exhibition, which is scheduled for Saturday following the last tee time of official competition, include Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player and Lee Trevino. The nine-player Greats of Golf field will play an 18- hole scramble format.
The Champions Tour's next event will be the Senior PGA Championship during the final weekend of May. Tom Watson earned the victory last year.
NATIONWIDE TOUR
STADION CLASSIC AT UGA, University of Georgia Golf Club, Athens, Georgia - The Nationwide Tour stays in Georgia this week for the Stadion Classic.
Last year, University of Georgia senior Russell Henley shot a three-under 68 during the final round on his home course to become the second amateur in Nationwide Tour history to win an event.
Henley, who has since turned professional, returns to defend his title. Also in the field is Luke List, who earned his first Nationwide Tour victory last weekend at the South Georgia Classic, as well as former winners Martin Piller (2010) and Robert Damron (2008).
There is no television coverage this week.
Following the Stadion Classic, the Nationwide Tour takes a week off before returning May 17-20 for the BMW Charity Pro-Am, which Garth Mulroy won last year.
LPGA TOUR
HSBC LPGA BRASIL CUP, Itanhanga Golf Club, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil - The LPGA heads to Brazil this week for the two-day, unofficial HSBC LPGA Brasil Cup.
Last year, Mariajo Uribe fired a six-under 66 on Sunday to earn a one-stroke victory over Linsdey Wright. Uribe atoned for the previous year's event, which she lost to Meaghan Francella in a six-hole playoff.
There is no television coverage this week.
Following the Brasil Cup, the LPGA has a week off before heading to New Jersey for the Sybase Match Play Championship. Suzann Pettersen defeated Cristie Kerr, 1-up, to win last year's title.

Two playoff teams from 2007 take center stage on the NFL Network Sunday night in a Week 2 NFL betting match-up when the (0-1) New England Patriots betting head south to Florida for a contest with the (1-0) Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
New England HC Bill Belichick couldn’t care less about the way his team plays in the preseason. With a chance to tie last week’s game with the Baltimore Ravens betting, He elected to go for the two-point conversion and outright victory. The conversion failed, and the Pats ended up falling to the Ravens by a 16-15 final count.
New England rolled off twelve unanswered points to give it a chance at securing the victory, but it never threatened to cover the 3.5-point spread. NFL bettors saw this one coming, as they bet the Ravens down from +6 to +3.5 as the week progressed. QB Tom Brady didn’t take part in the Patriots first preseason clash, but could see action this weekend.
His three replacements all put up embarrassing numbers. They went a combined 17 for 33, and threw three interceptions and no touchdowns. The New England defense was encouraging, as they held the Ravens to 2/12 third down conversions and surrendered just ten first downs. That ‘D’ should be bolstered with the addition of former Bucs and Denver Broncos betting safety John Lynch, who could make his Patriots debut on Sunday against his former mates.
HC Jon Gruden had to be impressed with the way his Bucs played on both sides of the ball in their dominating 17-6 victory over the Miami Dolphins in Week 1’s NFL pre-season betting action. Bucs bettors were quite happy with the effort, as they made a mockery of the fact that they were underdogs in the game.
The logjam at the quarterback position didn’t get any easier to separate for Gruden, as all four of his QBs had positive experiences in the first exhibition of 2008. The four combined to complete 28 of their 40 passes for 204 yards and a touchdown, and that was without starting QB Jeff Garcia in the lineup.
RB Michael Bennett had 19 carries and four receptions, totaling 90 yards and a touchdown. Expect to see more of Bennett, Kenneth Darby, and Earnest Graham, as they all compete for playing time with Warrick Dunn in the backfield this season. Defensively, the Bucs recorded four sacks and held the Fins offense in check all day.
First round draft pick Aqib Talib was impressive in the secondary, recording a tackle and two pass defenses in his debut. Don’t be surprised to see Talib in the starting lineup opposite Ronde Barber for the Bucs in ’08.
The betting trends suggest that NFL bettors should be backing the Bucs in this intra-conference exhibition.
These two teams hooked up last year in Tampa Bay, with the Bucs winning that game 13-10. The Buccaneers have only lost one preseason game at home dating back to the beginning of the ’05 preseason. The Patriots have had a mixed bag of results in their recent exhibitions. They have gone 2-2 ATS and SU each of the last three years.
New England currently sits as modest 1-point favorites in this preseason showdown with the ‘total’ now sitting at 34.5.
